Last year saw 600 people gather in the shadow of Drax Power Station for the ten day Camp For Climate Action. This weekend in Bristol is the next national planning meeting, Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th March. The venue is Barton Hill Settlement which is 5 min from Lawrence Hill Station.

Cine Rebelde produced a documentary film about the camp.

On Wednesday evening, a number of concerned Leeds and Bradford residents decided to draw attention to the activities of a number of climate criminals in Bradford city centre. Advertisements for damaging air flights were modified to tell the truth; that flying is the fastest growing cause of climate change, the “single greatest threat to human-kind” according to the government’s chief scientist.

Last Thursday, to coincide with the IPCC report, a group of Manchester climate activists decorated the pavements outside flight centres, petrol stations, supermarkets and a humvee garage with carbon footprints.

Court rejects ASBOS for airport activists

On Friday, Loughborough Magistrates Court rejected calls from the Crown Prosecution Service to slap ASBOs on the 24 Plane Stupid activists who they described as “highly organised extremists� that were arrested in connection with the shut down of Nottingham East Midlands short haul airport in September.

Leeds Bradford Airport Protest, part of Plane Stupid Day

Today, November 6th, has been designated a day of action against short haul flights. A group of local people have visited Leeds/Bradford airport in support of this event, and took part in an action to draw attention to the terrible damage that is being caused by short flights that could easily be taken by train. The group put stickers around the airport, with a variety of facts on them including details of the amount of carbon dioxide emitted by flying to a variety of destinations.

This morning a group of London Rising Tide activists, in the guise of bean counting civil servants, gathered at inside the offices of the Civil Aviation Authority, brandishing a massive cheque for £9.2bn made out to the airline industry from the government regulator.
