Climate camp double-decker tripod
climate camp set-up site kitchen

More than 100 climate activist spent all Wednesday night secretly erecting a two-storey tripod (to resist any potential eviction) and marquees in the shadow of Drax power station. In the event, it was hours before the police arrived. The situation with the police is calm. Help is needed to realise the full potential of the first camp for climate action.

This is an amazing opportunity to actually start making the changes we need to make. No more hot air from politicians and "business solutions" but really doing it now.

Full details on the aims of the camp, policies already agreed, the programme, and how it all works, on the website,

Location: The camp is taking place on Barlow Common, 2-3km NW of the Drax perimeter fence. grid ref 635 287

By public transport: take the train to Selby. From there, you have a number of options.

By road: from junction 34 of the M62, head north up the A19. Just after the village of Burn, turn right onto Common Lane. At the end of the road, turn right onto the A1041, heading towards Camblesforth. Take the first left onto Barlow Road, then left onto Barlow Common Road. You will see a track on your left: turn down it, and stop outside the big field with lots of marquees in it.

From Selby or the A63, head south down the A1041. Turn left onto Barlow Common Road, follow the road round to your right, and you'll see the track on your right.

Please use public transport wherever possible; there are shuttle buses from Selby train station, and a welcome desk. There is some parking available near the site. On site there is parking *only* for live-in vehicles and disabled access.

Disabled access for those on trains terminating at selby train station, rather than goole need to contact the station in advance, and the station is unmanned after 19.00, after which there is no disabled access.

You can contact the camp, if necessary, on 07847-503 111
